The U.S Currently Incarcerates 2.3 Million People

 

We are in an era of mass incarceration in the United States. Although we count only 5% of the world’s population, we have 25% of the worlds prison population. That’s about 2.3 million people currently incarcerated.

 
 
 

The Criminal Justice System is Currently “Making The Bad Worse”

With problems like overcrowding, ineffective incarceration program, lack of mental and physical care, prison assault culture, the rehabilitative goal of the correctional facilities are underachieved. In most cases, the process of incarceration perpetuates more harm to the offender than provide remedy, thus “making the bad worse”.
